The purpose of an award is to celebrate the achievements of a person (or group of people) who is adept at innovating, beating a path that others can subsequently follow to achieve positive results.
This was the motivation for the creation of "The Procurement Awards 2016 - Beyond Saving", a name that immediately evokes the idea that the purpose of procurement is to make a strategic contribution to public and private companies.
The award is designed to support and promote the strategic importance of purchasing within companies, enhancing the contribution made by procurement teams and highlighting how this business function represents an important strategic tool, emphasizing the direct benefits and performance improvements that procurement activities bring and how these can contribute to raising the competitive advantage of a business.
The criteria used for evaluating the projects submitted is based on the ability of these to contribute to and improve business results, through factors such as process optimization, supplier management and negotiation. The ceremony is set to take place on May 19 in Milan, with awards in 4 categories - namely, the contribution made by purchasing departments in terms of best practices in negotiations, sustainability, team-based purchasing processes and innovation. The jury tasked with assessing the leading performances in the world of procurement will be made up of professionals with extensive experience in the sector, with Francesco Calì, Managing Director of Valeo-in, as its chairman.
The competition was first conceived by The Procurement Magazine, a point of reference for the procurement sector and the supply chain, and by Valeo-in, a consulting and training company dedicated to increasing competitiveness in business.
IFABER, one of the partners of the initiative, also sponsors the awards category dedicated to cross-functional team-based purchasing; the other three are backed by Carlson Wagonlit (innovation), Scotwork (best practices in terms of negotiation) and Right Hub (sustainability).
All company projects to be entered into the competition must be submitted by email by April 15, 2016, to the address www.theprocurement.it/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/The-Procurement-Awards-2016.pdf
